Brushless Exciter Services
GMS personnel have extensive experience with brushless exciter design, manufacture, maintenance and testing. Our knowledge gives us the ability to repair or rebuild components to improve exciter performance. GMS refurbishment program includes a complete disassembly of all removable
components, testing to identify the status of each electrical component and the ability to replace components. We offer rebanding services and complete rewinds of the stator and rotor winding assemblies plus PMG rewinds. All these services extend the life of the exciters and improve their performance.
GMS can provide full speed balance of all exciter rotors in a state-of-the-art balance facility.
GMS can now offer new manufactured brushless exciters to the market.
Brushless Exciter Housing Modification
GMS provides a Brushless Exciter Positive Pressure Vent Modification (PPVM) to the existing exciter housing that has proven to significantly reduce the rate of dirt contamination and mitigate the potential hazard of hydrogen ingress. Housings are modified so the inside pressure is at a higher level than the outside. This reduces the intake of dirt and contamination during operation. The housing reconfiguration does not require any external fan or power supply. Nothing changes except the effectiveness of the exciter enclosure.
